Nominations for 2022 Mid and East Antrim Sports Awards are go!

by | Jan 7, 2022

You can now put forward your local top sporting heroes and rising stars as nominations open for the 2022 Mid and East Antrim Sports Awards.

You can submit your entries online here until noon on 24 January 2022.

Last year’s awards were cancelled due to Covid-19 so this year’s ceremony will be back with a bang at Carrickfergus Amphitheatre on 10 March.

Categories include Junior Sportsperson, School Sporting Performance, Person/Team with a Disability, Best Manager/Coach, Community Participation, Best Team, Services to Sport and Sportsperson of the Year.

There is also the Hall of Fame and two bursaries up for grabs to help give rising sports stars a welcome boost.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Cllr William McCaughey said: “It has been almost two years since we last celebrated the achievements of all our athletes and although it’s been a difficult few years to navigate, a great deal of you have still achieved success over this period. We are keen to not only recognise this but celebrate everything you’ve overcome.

“Sport and physical activity, in many ways, has become more important over the last few years and we know that there has been some great work carried out both on and off the field of play within our communities.

“We have a wealth of sporting talent here in Mid and East Antrim, from grassroots to world champions, so there’s no better way to recognise them than nominating your local heroes for these special awards”

The annual Sports Awards, hosted by Council and kindly sponsored by our local business community, attract top talent from throughout the borough.
