by | Aug 17, 2022

Once again the ISPS Handa World Invitational presented by AVIV Clinics, held at Galgorm Castle Golf Club and Massereene Golf Club, has been a huge success with millions tuning in around the globe.

Scotland’s Ewen Ferguson claimed his second DP World Tour title of the season with a wire-to-wire win at the event.

Ferguson, who began the week with a course-record 61 at Galgorm Castle and was never headed, carded a closing 69 to finish 12 under, three shots clear of close friend Connor Syme and Borja Virto.

In the women’s tournament, Sweden’s Maja Stark stormed to a five-shot victory courtesy of a stunning closing round of 63 – a course record.

Thousands attended in the beautiful sunshine at Galgorm Castle Golf Club which was in impeccable condition for everyone to enjoy.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Noel Williams, said everyone should be “proud for delivering yet another stellar showpiece” in the Borough.

“Thousands of spectators and visitors from around the world have descended upon our Borough for this golf tournament with hospitality providers, retailers and traders throughout Mid and East Antrim all benefiting from the huge tourism drive.

“We have so much to offer visitors; From our breath-taking coastal drives and rich cultural history to our fantastic selection of golf courses.”

The Mayor, added: “I would like to congratulate, Maja Stark on her win and Ewan Ferguson for winning the men’s title.

“I would also like to commend the organisers, our partner sponsors and to our celebrities for their sustained efforts in bringing this event together and for their continued belief in Mid and East Antrim as a top-class location for international events.”
